World Contraception Day is an annual event taking place on 26 September. 2007 is the inaugural year of the campaign. In various countries around the world, different activities are taking place to celebrate World Contraception Day including educational events at schools, colleges and universities, charity concerts, roadshows involving workshops for young people and promotional activities in night-clubs and discos.

World Contraception Day is a multi-national campaign aiming to raise the awareness for contraception and to improve the level of education regarding reproductive and sexual health. The campaign is driven by a coalition of non-governmental organisations, including Marie Stopes International (MSI), European Society of Contraception (ESC), Centro Latinoamericano Salud y Mujer (CELSAM) and Asian Pacific Council on Contraception (APCOC), and supported by Bayer Schering Pharma. In 2007, World Contraception Day will focus on educating young people about contraceptive options to enable them to make informed choices about parenthood.
